London Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 Pt 5 Long Lines - Peter Pilotto & Roksanda Ilincic

Peter Pilotto

There was a lot of layering at Peter Pilotto, mixing proportions and 3-D prints. Loved the utilitarian vibe, such as mannish color-blocked waistcoats or sporty fishtailed vests with exposed pockets, and the 'shirt' worked into a twisted dress, twisted indeed:

Roksanda Ilincic

The incredible vibrant colours reminded me of 'birds of paradise' flowers (especially the vivid-orange and blue feathered top paired with an equally vibrant red long skirt), so it did not come as a surprise to read that Roksanda was inspired by exotic birds for this FW'11 collection. Wool georgette day dresses that looked like separate tops and skirts pulled together by a contrast ribbon belt; and trousers were brilliantly draped to a long, twisting cut that billowed beautifully about the leg. Loved the shorter wool georgette dresses to the languid liquid satin gowns, and everything in between:
